SLS X Machine Operation Guidelines

1) Connect the power plug and turn the machine ON
2) Release the latch and open the top box
3) Press the movement buttons on the Home Screen and Home the A and Z axes
4) Calculate the build height and multiply it by 1.5mm and then add 20mm of extra powder to fill the A-Bed
5) Using the A-Bed Control button, raise the Bed in 10mm increments until the powder reaches the required level
6) Raise the A-Bed in 1mm increments and run cycle B repeatedly until the surface is completely smooth the level
7) Clean the protective glass and IR lens using a glass cleaner

8) Lower the top box and lock the latches
9) Connect the pendrive, navigate to the print menu. Select your file and press Start to begin the operation
10) The Home Screen will display the temperature reading, camera feed and the Stop button and print percentage. You will observe that the machine is currently in the pre-heating phase
11) Once the target temperature is reached you will see the powder on the Z-bed begin to Sinter or melt through the camera feed. The system will automatically detect this and start the printing process. You can periodically monitor the progress via the camera
12) The outer panels of the machine may become warm during operation. Do not panic as this is a normal part of the SLS machine
13) Once the print is finished you will see the cooldown process on the screen. Do not turn off the machine or open the box until the cooldown process is fully complete

14) Once the cooldown process is finished the heaters will turn off automatically. A notification will appear on the Home Screen 'Cooldown Complete' and will ask whether to extract cake yes or No
15) If you wish to extract the cake select yes otherwise select No. Important: Before selecting yes, ensure that the Top box is open; failure to do so may cause the mechanism to collide with the halogen bulbs leading to serious damage
16) Using the cake extractor, transfer the cake to the post-processing unit. First remove the outer powder using a metal brush first, followed by a plastic brush for the final finish. Ensure you are wearing gloves and a mask.

17) After cleaning, open the Bin caps and collect the remaining powder from the bins and the Z-Bed. Sieve the powder in the post-processing unit and weight it. This collected material will serve as your reuse powder for future builds
18) Manually raise the A-Bed in 10mm increments and execute cycle B until the A Bed is completely empty. Collect the remaining powder from the Bin. Sieve it and record the weight for recycling
19) To mix the powder navigate to Setting in the Slicer software and open the mix ratio menu. Enter the weight of the recovered (old) powder from the Z-bed and bins. For Pa-12 apply a ratio of 30% New to 70% old powder. Mix the fresh powder including material recovered from A-Bed with the old powder accordingly
20) Store the mixed powder in an air tight container for future use. Continuous this recycling cycle as long as the powder flow, colour, and part strength maintain their required standards.
21) Clean any residual powder from inside the machine, lower the top box and secure the latch lock. Finally disconnect the power plug to safely shut down the machine
